Mark Gentry has over 30 years of experience helping customers meet their business and strategy goals. Some of his roles has been and Account Executive at a large utility company working with their commercial and industrial customers. For over 10 years, he worked as a consultant to commercial and industrial companies helping to identify electric technologies to help lower their overall cost to produce products or better serve their customers. Mark identified bottlenecks within industrial processes where electric technologies either lower production costs, increase line speed, or increased the quality of their product. For Commercial companies, Mark help identify ways to increase comfort, improve lighting or identify electric cooking technologies for Property Management companies, Educational facilities, Hotels. Etc.

Now, at Franklin Energy, Mark is an expert in getting to the heart of the client’s business needs and then drawing on Franklin Energy’s expertise and services to address concerns and present solutions that drive success. 

As Director of Strategic Growth working in the utility sector, Mark fills a key role in providing strategic solutions that help achieve clients’ goals and ensure that they receive the full benefit of all that Franklin Energy has to offer. He provides strategic guidance to clients as they strive to meet their needs to help position themselves for the future.

Luke Surowiec has over 15 years of experience designing, marketing, and implementing large scale decarbonization and sustainability programs. Throughout his career Luke has personally worked with tens of thousands of large building stakeholders and now helps government and utility clients implement next generation decarbonization and electrification initiatives. Most recently, Luke led the design and implementation of the NYC Accelerator which supports thousands of large buildings a year with decarbonization and compliance with Local Law 97, the most ambitious building performance standard poised to bring over 50,000 large NYC buildings to carbon neutrality. Luke holds a BA and an MBA from Stony Brook University of New York. He is a LEED AP, a BPI certified professional, and has sat on the board of AESP Mid-Atlantic Chapter since 2015.

Brittainy Pond serves as Product Development Manager at Puget Sound Energy, where she leads the development and implementation of PSE’s commercial and industrial load flexibility programs. Under her leadership, PSE has successfully launched its first system-wide C&I Demand Response offerings, achieving approximately 20 MW of C&I DR capacity in just the first year. She currently heads PSE’s DER and Load Management strategy development while providing crucial support for the company’s Virtual Power Plant initiatives through vendor management and technical requirements development.

With a decade of experience in Northwest utilities, Brittainy has established herself as a leader in innovative customer programs. She has played a key role in growing PSE’s DR team from two to five members and regularly collaborates with other utilities to share best practices and program insights. Her expertise in commercial customer operations and load management systems has made her a valuable industry voice, including presenting at past PLMA and Smart Buildings Exchange conferences.

Brittainy’s commitment to cleaner energy solutions is supported by her academic background, holding dual bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Analysis and Policy and International Relations, as well as a master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Analysis from Boston University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family exploring the multitude of mountains and waterways throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Mark Bremer develops virtual power plant programs at National Grid. His work engages customer-owned distributed energy resources across NY and MA to provide targeted distribution grid services, enabling our clean energy future. Mark’s prior role as an energy efficiency Product Owner included co-chairing the New York State Clean Heat Joint Management Committee. Mark was formerly a sciences lecturer and campus sustainability leader at SUNY Polytechnic Institute where he spearheaded the Green Building Experiential Learning Collaborative, which utilized student-led certification projects of new and existing campus buildings as learning tools for individual credential development. Mark earned his Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University and his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Colorado College. He is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design & Construction.

Ana Villarreal is a Senior Program Manager for ComEd, an Exelon Company delivering electricity and services to approximately 4 million customers across Northern Illinois. Ana has professional experience in finance, retail, engines, IT, and now utility. She joined the ComEd Customer Innovation Technologies (CIT) team in 2018, focused on identifying and pursuing early-stage technologies that can be used to create customer value and increase ComEd’s ability to effectively adopt new products and programs to support demand response (DR), distributed energy resources (DER), beneficial electrification (BE), and smart grid solutions. Early in her ComEd career, Ana focused on creating a measure of success for the innovative concepts and pilots, including customer-centric success criterion and integration plans with demand response programs and utility strategies. Ana now collaborates with various teams to effectively launch and lead pilots through to successful program establishment including delivery of initiatives, high customer satisfaction, and cost-effective energy savings.

Brenda Hunt currently manages Load Flexibility market transformation for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. In this position, she is developing a portfolio of technologies and programs focused on interventions that remove market barriers to deliver a broad array of quantifiable grid benefits to utilities. Prior to NEEA, Brenda managed a team delivering Portland General Electric’s demand response portfolio, rapidly scaling programs through enhanced customer engagement and applying continuous improvement to increase program performance. Her former career experience is deeply rooted in energy efficiency program design, strategy development, and program management. She is passionate about combining the benefits of energy efficiency, permanent peak load reduction, and load flexibility to contribute to a reliable, resilient, and affordable energy future for all.

Elena is a senior associate with RMI’s Electricity Program, where she provides strategic support and data analysis for the Clean Energy Planning team. Prior to RMI, Elena worked with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI), managing and facilitating the national pacific/mountain fellowship and engaging external stakeholders. Before her time with CELI, Elena worked as a graduate student consultant to conduct a feasibility study for a 1 MW community solar project with the city of Chelsea in Michigan. During this time, Elena co-taught a graduate-level course on energy justice at the University of Michigan with Dr. Tony Reames.

Kevin is a manager with RMI, where he leads Virtual Power Plant Partnership (VP3). VP3 is a coalition of nonprofit and industry voices changing the necessary policies, regulations, and market rules to unlock and scale VPPs. Kevin has been with RMI for nine years. During that time, he has worked across RMI’s electricity related work, including consulting, research, and convening with utilities, communities and advocates across the United States. Kevin has been involved in multiple RMI internal start-ups including Business Renewables Center (now CEBA) and Shine. Kevin lives with his partner, children, and dog in Carbondale, CO.

Bradley Harris is responsible for regulatory affairs on the east coast for WeaveGrid. WeaveGrid works with utilities, automakers, and other parties to solve several EV-grid integration challenges and help integrate renewable energy into the electric system. Previously, Bradley served as the director of government affairs at Resources for the Future, an energy and environmental think-tank. He has also worked on the pricing and customer solutions team at Duke Energy. In that role, he led several of the company’s efforts related to rate design, electric vehicles, rooftop solar, energy efficiency, and energy affordability. Bradley is a 2019 graduate of the UN Kenan-Flagler MBA Program with a concentration in corporate finance and an enrichment in energy. He also has a master’s in public policy from Duke University and a BA in economics from Tufts University. Bradley also is. graduate of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute.

His expertise spans tariff development, regulatory strategy, program evaluation, vendor partnerships, and technology integrations, ensuring PGE’s Flexible Load portfolio remains forward-looking, data-driven, and impactful.

Beth Glynn, PE, is a Senior Program Manager at Cascade Energy with over 17 years of experience in advancing energy efficiency and load management programs. She leads mission-critical industrial and agricultural utility initiatives that help customers scale energy efficiency and load flexibility.  With extensive experience in program design, technical analysis, and customer engagement, Beth has helped hundreds of industrial facilities implement energy improvements, including projects for Darigold, Kroger, and Sysco. She was a contributor to Energy Trust of Oregon’s Energy Intensity Modeling Guidelines and has been a licensed professional engineer in Oregon since 2014.  Currently she manages Cascade Energy’s delivery of Portland General Electric’s Energy Partner on Demand and Energy Smart Thermostat programs, helping customers participate in grid-responsive demand flexibility initiatives. Beth holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University. She lives and works in Portland, OR.

Kitty Wang is a Technical Director at Energy Solutions on the Distributed Energy Resources team focusing on flexible load management, demand response, and integrated demand-side management programs. She has been with Energy Solutions for 15 years and currently leads implementation of PG&E’s automated demand response (ADR) Program, which incentivizes controls and communication equipment for non-residential customers to automate load curtailment. Prior to Energy Solutions, Kitty was a principal at Rocky Mountain Institute, where she led projects in automated demand response, utility resource planning, and DSM potential studies. She is based near Boulder, Colorado.

Since 2008, she has focused on residential DR programs including AC cycling, behavioral, DER technologies and critical peak pricing along with non-residential AutoDR incentives. She is currently the chair of the board of directors for Literacy for Environmental Justice which empowers youth and young adults through workforce development in a native plant nursery, habitat restoration and urban park stewardship. She also loves gardening and small dogs.

Currently serving as an Opower Executive at Oracle Utilities since August 2015, Vanessa has held several key positions at Oracle including Vice President of Opower Sales, and Practice Director of Energy Engagement. Previous roles include Vice President at Conservation Services Group, where her leadership extended over programs throughout the Western US, and Director of Land Development managing large real estate projects in Florida. Vanessa’s earlier career included strategic roles in land development and civil engineering, underpinned by a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona and additional training in Pragmatic Marketing. Vanessa is also active with industry leadership and mentoring roles with the Peak Load Management Association, iuCX, and Utility2030’s SPARK program.

David Pudleiner has over 8-years of experience working in the field of building energy analysis. Since joining ICF in 2014, Mr. Pudleiner has served as the technical lead for a variety of studies including non-wires alternatives, energy efficiency potential analyses, building-specific and policy level energy simulations, and creation of customer tools. 

During this time, he has worked to develop improved analysis methods for informing program design and measure selection, as well as improving the utilization of sensitivity and uncertainty analysis within the design of energy efficiency program and potential estimations. 

He holds a B.S. from Virginia Tech and M.S. from Georgia Tech, both in Mechanical Engineering.

Julie Michals directs and coordinates the National Energy Screening Project (NESP) at NASEO, focusing on developing economic guidance to assess cost-effectiveness of energy resource investments using the National Standard Practice Manual (NSPM). She provides technical assistance to state agencies on application of the guidance, along with other NESP resources, and oversees NESP’s training and certification program. Prior to joining E4TheFuture, Julie spent over a decade at Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) directing the Regional Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) Forum, an 11-state project steered by regulatory commissioners and state energy office officials with the mission to create consistent EM&V protocols for energy efficiency programs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Julie came to NEEP after fours year at the MA energy office facilitating stakeholder input and negotiations on utility EE plan filings. Julie holds a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in Energy and Environmental Analysis from Boston University.

In this role, he leads the utility’s teams that design and implement said programs. A champion for grid innovation, Pat recently led cross-functional efforts to rapidly scale enrolled DR capacity in under a year. He is a 2025 Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Fellow, holds an MBA, and brings diverse past experience across the climate tech and energy sectors. Outside of scaling grid assets, Pat is an avid endurance athlete based in the Pacific Northwest.

Sarah Chatterjee is the Founder and Principal of Tala Energy Advisory, where she works at the intersection of distributed energy resources, electrification, and grid transformation. With nearly two decades of experience in the energy and electric utility sector, she advises utilities, developers, and technology providers on how to design, integrate, and scale distributed energy solutions that deliver both customer and grid value. Her work spans demand response, virtual power plants, transportation and building electrification, battery energy storage, and distributed generation, with a focus on how these resources can be coordinated to provide reliable, flexible grid services. Sarah is particularly focused on the evolving role of customers in the energy system and the infrastructure, software, and market structures required to support a more dynamic and decentralized grid. Prior to founding Tala Energy Advisory, Sarah worked in engineering consulting and held roles within electric utilities where she led the design and implementation of customer programs and grid-integrated technologies. Sarah is a recognized voice in distributed energy strategy, known for translating complex system challenges into practical, actionable approaches that support scalable and resilient energy systems.

Robin Maslowski is a director and leads the clean Energy programs modeling team within Guidehouse’s Energy, Sustainability, and Infrastructure segment. Robin provides expertise in distributed energy resources (DER) and non-wires solutions (NWS) project management, cost-benefit assessment, potential studies, strategic planning, and modeling analytics. Recent project work includes determining market potential and forecasting for DER, developing cost-effectiveness frameworks for electric vehicles (EV) and demand response (DR), identifying implementation strategies and providing procurement support for DR resources, and identifying key areas of opportunity for market growth, such as utility intervention strategies for supporting the adoption of EVs.

Lauren Schuettler, Wabash Valley Power Alliance

Lauren Schuettler is the Distributed Energy Resource Coordinator at Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), an almost $2 billion generation and transmission cooperative headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. She manages the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Demand Response and Distributed Generation programs across three states. As part of this role, Lauren develops strategies and relationships with developers looking to locate projects within the WVPA footprint.  

Lauren’s leadership experience and organizational excellence allows her to bring a fresh perspective in navigating the complexities of WVPA’s operations across two energy markets, MISO & PJM. She is an integral part of the team developing and launching WVPA’s home backup generator program (PowerShift+). Before joining the WVPA team, Lauren worked in industrial manufacturing overseeing day-to-day operations and solving complex problems in vendor and customer relations.

Jake received his Ph.D. in Economics from Claremont Graduate University in 2023, where his dissertation re-examined the method in which generation costs are measured, the levelized cost of electricity, and developed a unique, adjusted evaluation metric to estimate power plants’ costs. Furthermore, Jake has over ten years of experience as a university professor, and has taught courses in economics, statistics, business, and forecasting (primarily at University of La Verne). Jake and his wife, Laura, live in Claremont. They love vacationing in Cambria, CA and spoiling D.J. (their black labrador). Jake and Laura got married in Cambria in 2024.

She has 20 years of experience in the area. Debyani is a trainer for Peak Load Management Alliance’s (PLMA’s) “Flexibility Fundamentals” and “Flexibility Program Design and Implementation” courses for industry practitioners.

Dave Alspector is a Director with Tierra. Dave is a registered professional engineer with 15 years of experience supporting electric and gas utilities with strategic planning, research, and evaluation of their customer-facing distributed energy resource (DER) programs. He develops holistic approaches to impact, process, and market evaluation to provide program managers and regional stakeholders with actionable feedback to strengthen their programs. He applies his background in building science engineering to develop data driven analyses, sophisticated financial modeling tools, and in-depth market research that quantify utility and customer value of energy efficiency, demand response, load shifting, and energy storage programs. Dave currently supports Arizona Public Service, Tucson Electric Power, and Duke Energy with integrating DER program evaluation and research findings into their strategic planning processes and program designs. Dave believes and strives for a collaborative approach to problem solving that is based on a positive, inclusive, and fun work environment that encourages colleagues to be creative and innovative, while feeling supported and understood.

Josh Logan brings more than 20 years of strategic management experience with the United States Army, complemented by direct, customer-facing experience as a certified Ski and Snowboard Instructor at Vail Resorts’ Breckenridge Ski Resort. After a brief stint in accounting, Josh joined SRP in December 2022. Since then, his responsibilities have expanded to include managing all SRP Demand Response programs, including Business Demand Response, Bring Your Own Thermostat, and Flexible Load Reduction.

Brian Lusher serves as the Manager of Duke Energy’s Residential Demand Response team in the Integrated Grid Strategy and Solutions organization. His team is responsible for developing, marketing and operating products that serve both our customers and the grid by providing load reductions when we they are most needed. The current portfolio of products includes smart thermostats, controllable water heaters, pool pumps and HVAC systems. Additionally, this team works closely with the Energy Control Center on when to call for Critical Peak days and Behavioral Demand Response events that encourage customers to conserve energy and reduce usage during peak times. Brian joined Duke Energy in 2017 and has held a series of engineering and project management roles. A native of Virginia, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and later went on to complete a Masters in Business Administration at the University of South Carolina. Brian is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina.

Tim Larsen is an economist with experience researching price incentives and behavioral programs, as well as larger DR and EE programs across several states. He has expertise in program evaluation using experiments as well as econometric methods. At DSA, Tim has also been heavily involved with data collection, management and analysis for statewide energy studies in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado and taught economics for several years at Colorado, Vanderbilt, and Berry College.

Josh Bode specializes in advanced applications of data analytics using large volumes of hourly and sub-hourly data for evaluation, valuation, planning and forecasting in the energy sector. He has led over 50 studies including some of the first innovations and largest applications of smart meter and SCADA data analytics.

As part of these studies he has worked with smart meter data for millions of residential and small and medium businesses and with the full population of large customers from numerous utilities. He also has applied experience with large scale transmission level, substation, and distribution circuit feeder hourly data from multiple utilities, including PG&E, ConEdison, O&R, Central Hudson, NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid (Rhode Island). Most recently, he has worked on projects designed to align distributed energy resources with grid value and in developing location specific, probabilistic forecasts and T&D marginal costs. He received a BS in Business Economics from Willamette University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.

He holds an Executive MBA from Hofstra University, a Bachelor of Science from Emory University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Brian has been interviewed in energy industry publications and his projects have been recognized with awards from EnergyStar, E-Source, Chartwell, Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative, and Customer Service (CS) Week.

Pat Hermann is the Portfolio Segment Manager for Demand Response and Residential Energy Efficiency at Seattle City Light. In this role, he leads the utility’s teams that design and implement said programs. A champion for grid innovation, Pat recently led cross-functional efforts to rapidly scale enrolled DR capacity in under a year. He is a 2025 Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Fellow, holds an MBA, and brings diverse past experience across the climate tech and energy sectors. Outside of scaling grid assets, Pat is an avid endurance athlete based in the Pacific Northwest.
