Wabash Valley Power Alliance Job Opportunity: Demand Side Resources Solution Specialist

Job Description

Overview

We’re looking for an analytical and service-minded energy professional to join our team as a Demand Side Resources (DSR) Solution Specialist. In this role, you’ll support and optimize programs such as demand response, energy efficiency, and distributed energy resources (DERs). You’ll work closely with internal teams, software platforms, and member cooperatives—sometimes in the field—to ensure the success of our DSR initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their energy career who’s passionate about data, technology, and sustainability—and wants to work in a collaborative environment where their contributions matter.

Key Responsibilities

Program Operations & Support

  • Coordinate day-to-day DSR program activities, including DR testing, EE rollouts, and DER efforts.
  • Support EE project planning and implementation (e.g., lighting, HVAC, controls).
  • Maintain accurate records for program tracking and regulatory compliance.

Member Engagement

  • Collaborate with member co-ops and third-party contractors to deliver field-level program support.
  • Develop and present training materials for DSR initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits to verify installations and collect performance data.

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Organize and analyze data from sources like NISC MDM, AMI systems, and Salesforce.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to monitor performance.
  • Perform data quality checks and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

Software & Systems Support

  • Help administer and enhance tools such as DERMS, Salesforce, and program tracking platforms.
  • Assist with system testing, updates, and the creation of user guides or training materials.

Program Improvement & Innovation

  • Contribute ideas for improving current programs based on performance data, member feedback, and industry research.
  • Stay informed on DSR and utility industry trends.
  • Support evaluation of new technologies and pilot programs.
  • Help assess member satisfaction and program impact through metrics and feedback collection.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Sustainability, Business, Environmental Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in energy programs, utilities, data analytics, or technical project coordination.
  • Internships or coursework in energy efficiency or utility programs are a plus.
  • Familiarity with distributed energy resources, demand response, or grid-edge technologies is a bonus.
  • Experience with cooperative utilities or public power is also a plus.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in data tools and basic analytics; interest in AI/ML applications are welcomed.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn platforms such as DERMS, Salesforce, and AMI/MDM systems.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel regularly to member co-op territories.
  • Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for making a difference.
