PLMA Opens Call for Board of Directors and At-Large Leaders

Self-nominations from PLMA member organizations are now being accepted for the Board of Directors and At-Large Leaders for the 2026 -2028 term. If you plan to seek election, you must complete the Board of Directors or At-Large Leaders Nomination Form by Friday, September 26, 2025. The form requires that you include a brief statement of your qualifications, your goals for the organization, and initiatives that you want to champion.

Please note the following terms regarding service specific to this election: 

  • Six (6) Directors will be elected to serve a three-year term for 2026-2028.
  • Three (3) At-Large Leaders will be selected.
    • Two (2) Leaders will serve a three-year term for 2026-2028.
    • One (1) Leader will serve a two-year term for 2026-2027.

Job Description

PLMA looks to the Board of Directors to provide strategic leadership and vision to assist the Executive Director with tactical support in the operation of the Association consistent with the Board’s direction. Tasks include:
  • Review, Understand, and Comply with the duties and responsibilities of the Board as described in the PLMA By Laws

  • Understand, Comply with, and Assist in Enforcement of all PLMA Policies

  • Actively support the delivery of a strategic objective or other
    working group and participate in the Strategic Planning process
  • Participate in quarterly Board Meetings to ensure quorum is met

  • Participate in Conference Planning and Presentation Evaluation

  • Review, Edit, and Discuss new or revised PLMA Policies. Be present to vote to accept or reject policies

  • Provide feedback on materials and reports submitted by Executive Director for review

  • Participate in at least one PLMA Board committee

  • Become involved in other PLMA activities as they arise

  • Proactively promote PLMA and especially its conferences and membership in PLMA

At-Large Leaders represent the Associate and Academic PLMA Members on the PLMA Leadership Council to provide “Advice and Counsel” to the Board of Directors at semi-annual meetings and to participate in the annual election of Board Members.

The Board of Directors meets via conference call quarterly and at other times as deemed necessary. Members must remain an employee of a PLMA member organization for the length of their term, and are expected to participate in the meetings. There is no compensation or travel reimbursement from PLMA.

Nomination Process

Any employee of a PLMA member in good standing may self-nominate Board Members. Associate and Academic Level members may self-nominate At-Large Leaders.

Election Process

The Leadership Council will vote in the Board of Directors election electronically from Thursday, October 9 through Monday, October 27.   At-Large Representatives will vote in the At Large Leader election during that same timeframe.  Candidates may record a brief video statement for electors to review alongside nomination details in the weeks prior to the election.  These materials will be posted on the PLMA website.
